Title: The effectiveness of using mibile technology to facilitate anytime anywhere information literacy training in digital age
Authors: Tin, Tony
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: Students write numerous academic papers during their educational journey, needing assistance to identify appropriate information and evaluate the validity of sources. It is critical that they learn to conduct research and be self-reliant where there is no librarian to consult. Learning essential information literacy skills through mobile phones is an innovative m-learning pilot project that was collaboratively undertaken by faculty and the library staff at VinUniversity, a nonprofit university in Vietnam. The project intends to develop strategies for enhancing student information literacy skills through mobile technology and to design the MIL modules to improve usability and learning through a mobile application tool. The paper will highlight the discussion of the tool, contents, pedagogies, learning outcomes, opportunities, challenges, and support for immersive learning use. The project will contribute to the understanding of innovative practices for mobile learning and fill the gap between understanding the importance of information literacy skills and embedding them in the curriculum. Higher education communities will benefit from students’ enhanced ability to access and assess web-based information in completing academic assignments and research projects using mobile devices
