  • Fukuzawa Yukichi được coi là nhà cải cách, nhà tư tưởng có nhiều ảnh hưởng nhất ở Nhật Bản giai đoạn nửa cuối thế kỷ XIX. Ông có vai trò quan trọng trong quá trình khai sáng tinh thần quốc dân Nhật Bản, đem lại linh hồn, động lực và sự hậu thuẫn tinh thần cho công cuộc Duy Tân của Chính phủ Minh Trị. Tiếp nhận văn minh phương Tây, cải cách đất nước, nâng cao tiềm lực dân tộc được xem là phương thức quan trọng giúp Nhật Bản thoát khỏi nanh vuốt xâm lược của chủ nghĩa thực dân phương Tây. Bài viết này phân tích quan điểm của Fukuzawa Yukichi về văn minh phương Tây cũng như ảnh hưởng tư tưởng của ông đối với xã hội Nhật Bản thời kỳ này.

  • Bài viết giới thiệu về dịch thuật, sự tương đương trong dịch thuật và các nguyên tắc dịch thuật. Bên cạnh đó, bài viết đã khảo sát một số loại hình tương đương dịch thuật giữa tiếng tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt. Kết quả khảo sát cho thấy có sự tương đương một-một giữa tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt, tương đương với nhiều cách diễn đạt trong ngôn ngữ tiếng Việt và tương đương với tiểu phần ở ngôn ngữ dịch. Sự bất tương đương và không tương đương biểu thái cũng được tìm thấy trong dữ liệu khảo sát giữa tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt, đó là do có sự khác biệt về văn hóa sử dụng ngôn ngữ giữa tiếng Anh và tiếng Việt.

  • The article focuses on the Advice strategies made by Native Speakers of English and Native Vietnamese learners of English. The aim of the study is to discuss the similarities and differences between advice strategies chosen by the native speakers of English and the native Vietnamese learners of English. The article also aims to find out how the social factors affect the selection of advice strategies in both languages.   • Pronunciation is an important aspect to acquire when learning a second or foreign language. However, it is quite difficult for Vietnamese students. English songs are of great help in improving the students' achievement in pronunciation. The study aims at describing the goal and the significance of pronunciation instruction.   • Among the four skills of languages, listening skill plays an important role in the process of acquiring a language. However, how to listen English well is a problem for lots of learners, especially for English non- major students. In reality, most of students get bored and become demotivated when listening classes start. There is no denying that using authentic videos is beneficial to boosting students' interests and enhancing their listening comprehension.   • Writing is one of the most challenging and difficult tasks for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. Hence, the paper aims at proposing peer assessment as the way of involving students in process of sharing ideas, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve their writing skills. Peer assessment has been pedagogically determined as an effective method to develop students' writing performance. In this paper, benefits of peer assessment, strategies for using this type of assessment in writing are mentioned. The study also suggests several implications for the implementation of peer assessment in EFL writing classes.
